Material shipment network BitGravity has been bought by Tata Communications, over two years after they both started a tactical alliance that consisted of licensing BitGravity’s CDN innovation and the federation of BitGravity’s and Tata Communications’ shipment networks.
At the time, Tata also invested some $11.5 million in BitGravity. The deal enabled Tata to enter the marketplace with its own international CDN in 2008 and has actually led to effective traction with media, content, and gaming business in Europe, Asia, and India.
BitGravity, which was released in 2006 and is based in Burlingame, California, will continue to run as a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Netherlands-based Tata.
